It should come as no surprise, but I got my first rejection letter from a literary agent today.
As any author knows, rejection is part of the game. I knew it was coming, but I still felt a little bummed reading it.
But on the other hand I had more readers on Kindle Unlimited today! Thanks very much to them. As my friends across the pond might say, I’ve got to keep a stiff upper lip and keep cracking on!
I’m still waiting to hear back from six other agents, but I’m trying to keep my expectations within reason. And even if I never get a traditional publisher, I’m still overjoyed that some few people have ready and appreciated my story 🙂
I’m still working hard on the sequel! Pay attention in the next week or so, and I may reveal the name I’ve chosen for it!
It’s no picnic but keep truckin. Good luck. 😀

Nice to commiserate isn’t it? 😆. I totally blew it today. Sent a synopsis out with typos. my multitasking wasn’t on point apparently ☹️

Oh no! Yeah that multitasking doesn’t always work out 😱

Consider the first agent rejection letter a rite of passage!

I know, particularly when the wording of the letter is so dismissive. It stings.

We have all been here. Putting ourselves out there as writers needs thick skin. We show our creative nakedness and hope people don’t point and laugh but instead strip down and join us. Or something like that.

Very nicely said, I feel exactly the same. It’s hard to bare your soul on the page only to be turned away.
